Bologna Royalty Guidelines & Requirements
PURPOSE
Bologna Royalty will be elected each year prior to the annual Yale Bologna Festival. This court will reign over the Bologna Kingdom for a one (1) year period and will proclaim to all that Yale is “Full of Bologna and Proud of It!”
During their quest for the crown, they will raise money at 1˘ a vote. This money is primarily used to offset the cost of the Yale Bologna Festival, which in 2007 had a price tag over $65,000. This is a family event and the chamber pays for all entertainment for everyone’s enjoyment.
In the past the money has also been used for Scholarships, RUOk program, Downtown Streetscape, Scholarships, Christmas activities, Fireworks, Athletic programs, New Band Uniforms and much, much more.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidate must be 21 years of age or older
  • Candidate must live or work in the Yale School District or within 10 miles of the stop light in downtown Yale.
  • Candidate may not be a previous King or Queen of Bologna, but can be former royalty.

FUNDRAISERS
Once penny equals one vote
All monies earned by the candidates are to be deposited in the bank by 12:00 noon on Friday of the festival under their name.
All money earned is for the Chamber of Commerce and must be deposited in the bank named by the Chamber. Candidates may not promise or give money earned under any Chamber activity to any other civic group, organization, business or person.

WARM UP DANCE
The warm-up dance is a kick-off for the Candidates.
Profits from the dance will be divided equally among all candidates who participate in the event.
Individual auction monies will be credited to that candidates account.
Candidates are responsible for decorating their own area for the dance.

EVENTS
Each candidate is responsible for expenses incurred for any fundraising event. You may, however, choose to take your money from the event profits to pay off your expenses.
All fundraising activities must be cleared in advance by the coordinator and a calendar of event is to be given to Bologna Royalty Coordinator.

The Chamber of Commerce will pay for one 2 column x 2" ad per week advertising your events in The Yale Expositor. All other advertising and promotion is the responsibility of the candidate.

Being a Royal Candidate means that you not only represent yourself and the Chamber of Commerce, but the entire city of Yale. Please keep in mind that the festival is a family event and conduct yourself accordingly.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Royal Candidate it is your responsibility to attend all parades that the Chamber of Commerce participates in. These include:
  • Bologna Parade
  • Memorial Parade
  • Homecoming Parade
  • Lighted Christmas Parade
All other parades are at the discretion of the Royalty Coordinator and the Royals.
Please remember, as a Bologna Royal, that whenever you wear your crown and/or cape, you represent the Yale Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Yale.

Have fun, be safe and most of all, be Full of Bologna and Proud of It!
